Floater/ Substitute teacher

Location: Petersburg, VA
Position Type: Full-Time | Monday – Friday | 8:30 AM – 5:30 PM (1-hour break)
Compensation: $13–$15 per hour (based on experience)
About the Role
🧠 Key Responsibilities:
Deliver prepared lesson plans and maintain continuity in the learning environment in the absence of the regular teacher.
Support instruction across all developmental levels and subjects, including early Math, Literacy, and social-emotional learning.
Adapt teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students, including those with developmental delays or special needs.
Reinforce positive behavior using age-appropriate classroom management techniques that create a structured and welcoming atmosphere.
Encourage student engagement through interactive, hands-on, and exploratory activities that foster creativity and independence.
Communicate professionally with students, staff, and families to ensure a seamless transition and maintain clear expectations during substitute coverage.
Maintain accurate records, including attendance, assignments, and observations during your time in the classroom.
Promote safety and inclusivity in all classroom activities, maintaining compliance with all licensing and center policies.
Requirements
HIGH SCHOOL DIPOLMA
Experience or coursework in Early Childhood Education is a plus
Strong grasp of child development and effective teaching techniques
Familiarity with lesson plans and curriculum implementation
Proven ability to manage classrooms and adapt to different teaching environments
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
A passion for teaching and supporting student achievement
